Role Description
The Freelance CAD Product Designer will be responsible for designing and developing fishing tackle products from concept through to production-ready specifications. This role involves creating detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and construction drawings for components and assemblies.
The designer will collaborate closely with the founder and product team to translate ideas into functional, manufacturable designs, refine prototypes, and ensure products meet performance, durability, and cost targets. Tasks include updating design files, preparing documentation for suppliers, participating in design reviews, and supporting continuous improvements to the product range.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Design Engineering for product development and optimization.
- Proficiency in Technical Drawing and Construction Drawings for manufacturing and assembly documentation.
- Ability in Drawing and visual concept development to communicate design ideas clearly.
- Experience working with consumer products, preferably in fishing tackle or related outdoor equipment.
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances relevant to small hardware and components.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple design projects concurrently.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working closely with on-site teams and suppliers.
- Relevant qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
